Reading First Grade
Happy Cheetah Reading teaches reading using both phonics and sight words. It also teaches printing, spelling, and beginning language arts (e.g., sentence structure, punctuation, and rhyming words). The course is designed primarily for use with students who struggle to learn to read, whatever their age, but it can also be used with students who do not struggle. It does not require students to memorize rules or take tests. Instead, it involves continual interaction between the parent and the student using auditory, visual, and kinesthetic methods.
Explode The Code Books 1-8 focus on Phonemic Awareness, Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension, and Writing. All workbooks have several review lessons and a posttest. Explode The Code Half Books (1 -6 ) focus on more practice and reinforcement with skills in workbooks 1-6.

Jot it Down!
D'nealian Handwriting 1
The D’Nealian handwriting method seeks to make the transition from manuscript to cursive easier by adding a slant to the manuscript print and more similarity in the letter strokes between manuscript and cursive with less flourishes in general. Lessons typically include a review of letter formation, practice, review, evaluation, and editing. All of the grade level worktexts are consumable and in full color.
